Where can I play pickup basketball on a weeknight in Atlanta?
Four metro gyms publish weeknight basketball: Oakhurst Recreation Center in Decatur on Thursdays 7–9pm, Roswell's Bill Johnson Community Activity Building on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6–7:30pm, Kennesaw First Baptist on Mondays 6:30–9pm for men 16 and over, and Hembree Park in Roswell on Mondays and Wednesdays until 8pm. Everywhere else, call first.

The four published weeknight runs
Weeknight is the hardest slot in the metro to find, because most rec centers close at 8 or 9pm and give their evening court time to youth leagues. These four say in writing when they are open for basketball after work:
Oakhurst Recreation Center, Decatur — Thursdays 7–9pm. $5 for City of Decatur residents, $10 otherwise, or $25/$50 a month across all three Decatur rec centers. The latest published adult slot anywhere in the directory.
Bill Johnson Community Activity Building, Roswell — Tuesdays and Thursdays 6–7:30pm. $4 for Roswell residents, $6 for non-residents, cash only. The city says open play is not guaranteed; the number is (770) 817-6670.
Kennesaw First Baptist Church — Mondays 6:30–9pm. A men's run in the Gathering Center, open to men 16 and over at any skill level. The church lists the fall run as starting Monday, September 28, 2026.
Hembree Park Recreation Center, Roswell — Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am–8pm. A long window rather than an evening session, so the last two hours are the pickup window. Open play is not guaranteed; call (770) 569-9746.
Gyms open late, without a published basketball schedule
These are open in the evening and have a court. Whether the floor is free for basketball on any given night is a phone call:
- Berean Christian Church, KBL Family Life Center, Stone Mountain — Monday–Friday 7am–8pm, regulation court with six goals, $15/month membership.
- Acworth Community Center — free drop-in, building open Monday–Friday 7am–8pm.
- Kennesaw Recreation Center — three full courts, building open Monday–Saturday 7am–9pm, $20/yr Cobb residents.
- Kedron Fieldhouse, Peachtree City — Monday–Friday 9am–9pm, $3/$10, and you need a physical photo ID.
- Gwinnett County gyms, including Best Friend Park in Norcross and Rhodes Jordan Park in Lawrenceville — open gym during building hours at $2.25 for adults.
- Briarwood and Lynwood, Brookhaven — free drop-in, on a monthly calendar.
Outdoors after dark
If you are staying in the city, a lighted park court is the other weeknight option. Six City of Atlanta courts we have confirmed have lights: Chastain Park, Frankie Allen Park, Bessie Branham Park, Historic Fourth Ward Park, the Old Fourth Ward Skatepark courts and Perkerson Park. Note that Piedmont Park, the court most people name first, is not lit.
Park hours still apply, and most City of Atlanta parks close at 11pm.
