How much does open gym basketball cost in Atlanta?
Between free and $10 a session, depending on which city runs the gym. Brookhaven and Acworth are free. Gwinnett County charges $2.25 for adults, Peachtree City $3, Roswell $4, Decatur $5 — each roughly doubling for non-residents. Kennesaw sells a $20-a-year membership instead of a drop-in rate. City of Atlanta rec centers publish no drop-in price at all.

What each city charges
Every price below comes from the venue's own website or its city's fee schedule.
- Brookhaven — free. Briarwood and Lynwood community centers run free supervised drop-in: youth, adult, and adult open runs. Times sit on a monthly calendar, and the city warns that weekend reservations can eat into open gym.
- Acworth — free. Acworth Community Center has free drop-in on two regulation courts. You create an account and check in at the desk.
- Gwinnett County — $2.25. Adults 18–49 pay $2.25, under-18s and anyone 50 or over pay $1.25, and non-Gwinnett residents add $2. Even as an outsider that is $4.25, the cheapest paid run in the metro. You can check out a ball at the desk.
- Peachtree City — $3 residents, $10 non-residents. Kedron Fieldhouse also requires a CivicRec account and a physical photo ID; the city says a picture of an ID will not do.
- Roswell — $4 residents, $6 non-residents, cash only. Bill Johnson Community Activity Building.
- Decatur — $5 residents, $10 non-residents, or $25 a month ($50 non-resident) covering all three rec centers. If you play more than five times a month as a non-resident, the pass wins. Teen and youth open gym at Ebster and Oakhurst is free on school-day afternoons.
- Kennesaw — a membership, not a drop-in. Kennesaw Recreation Center has three full courts and charges $20 a year for Cobb County residents, $30 for non-residents, $10 for students with valid ID.
- Stone Mountain — $15 a month. Berean Christian Church's KBL Family Life Center is membership-based for adults 18–54, with a $10 registration fee for non-members.
- Atlanta, private — $10 a session. BRXND Sportsplex runs Sunday open runs at $10. It does not publish a start time.
Resident pricing is the real variable
Non-resident pricing roughly doubles the number almost everywhere: $5 becomes $10 in Decatur, $3 becomes $10 in Peachtree City, $4 becomes $6 in Roswell, and Gwinnett adds a flat $2. Ask the front desk what counts as proof of residency before you assume you qualify — a lease or a utility bill usually does.

Atlanta Parks & Recreation runs rec centers across the city and many have gyms, but the city does not publish an open-gym schedule or an adult drop-in price for them. You have to call the center. We list every one we track with its address so you can start with the closest.
The free options
Free basketball in metro Atlanta means one of two things: Brookhaven and Acworth's drop-in programmes, or an outdoor park court. We track 186 public park courts across Georgia, 38 of them City of Atlanta parks. Outdoor is always free — the trade is that nobody guarantees anyone else will be there.
