Where can I play basketball on a Sunday in Atlanta?

Six metro gyms publish Sunday basketball access: Ebster in Decatur 3:00-5:45pm and Oakhurst 3:00-6:00pm ($5 residents, $10 non-residents), Sugar Hill's E Center noon-6:00pm ($2), Custer Park in Marietta 1:00-7:00pm ($2), Kedron Fieldhouse in Peachtree City 1:00-5:00pm ($3 residents) and BRXND Sportsplex in Atlanta ($10 a session). Gwinnett's six county gyms are closed on Sundays.

Sunday is the biggest pickup day of the week and the hardest to plan

Most gyms in this metro are built around a weekday programming calendar. Sunday is the day leagues do not book, staff do not want to work, and a lot of buildings simply lock the doors — which is exactly when most people are free. Of the two dozen or so metro gyms that publish any open-gym basketball time at all, six publish Sunday access, and three of the six are the ones nobody outside their own city has heard of.

Here they are, cheapest first.

The six gyms open on a Sunday

E Center, 5009 West Broad Street, Sugar Hill. Sunday noon-6:00pm, $2 per person. The city publishes open-play hours on its own parks page and they are the widest we have found anywhere in Georgia - Monday to Saturday 7:00am-9:00pm on top of the Sunday block. At $2 this ties Custer Park for the cheapest published adult drop-in in the metro. Hours move with programming, so call (770) 831-7413.

Custer Park Sports & Fitness Center, Marietta. Sunday 1:00-7:00pm, $2 a visit for ages 19 and up, $1 for 18 and under, or $50 a year for unlimited open play if you live in Cobb County. The open-play gym runs during building hours rather than on a basketball-specific schedule, and basketball shares the floor with volleyball and badminton. Everyone entering needs a Fit Pass, a day pass or a guest sign-in. Call (770) 794-5630 before you go.

Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center, Peachtree City. Sunday 1:00-5:00pm. $3 for Peachtree City residents, $10 for everyone else. Two full courts behind a mesh curtain. Court availability follows the posted weekly calendar rather than the building hours, so check it first - and you need a CivicRec account and a physical photo ID at the desk. The city does not accept a picture of an ID on your phone.

Ebster Recreation Center, 105 Electric Ave, Decatur. Adult open gym basketball, Sundays 3:00-5:45pm. $5 for City of Decatur residents, $10 for non-residents, or $25 a month ($50 non-resident) for unlimited open gym across all three Decatur centers. This is a basketball-specific published session, not a building-hours window - which makes it the most dependable Sunday run in the metro.

Oakhurst Recreation Center, Decatur. Open gym basketball Sundays 3:00-6:00pm, same Decatur pricing. A full-court gym with six goals and a scoreboard. Oakhurst and Ebster overlap on Sunday afternoons, so if one is full the other is four minutes away.

BRXND Sportsplex, Atlanta. Sunday open runs, $10 a session. The venue does not publish a start time, so call before you travel. It is the only Sunday run we have found inside the city of Atlanta itself, and the most expensive on this list - which tells you something about how thin Sunday supply is in the city.

An hour north: Hall County

Hall County's three community centers - East Hall and North Hall in Gainesville, and Mulberry Creek in Flowery Branch - are open Sunday 1:00-6:00pm, and the county sells an Open Gym Membership aimed at basketball and pickleball players specifically: $12 a month plus a one-time $5 card fee, valid at all three, or a three-visit pass for $10. The county publishes no fixed basketball hours, so open gym happens inside those building hours and the gym can be booked for a league instead. Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville also runs open gym Sunday 2:00-7:00pm. Church recreation calendars move with the ministry calendar, and Lakewood published a basketball suspension through 26 October 2026 with basketball resuming 2 November, so call the church before you drive.

Who is closed on Sunday, and it is most of them

This is the half of the answer that saves you a drive:

| Venue | Sunday | | --- | --- | | Gwinnett County's six gyms | Closed. Park hours run Mon-Thu to 9pm and Fri-Sat to 6pm, with no Sunday block - so the county with the cheapest countywide drop-in rate in the metro ($2.25) is shut on the day most people want it. | | Bill Johnson, Hembree Park, East Roswell | Closed. All three Roswell centers close Sunday; their published open play is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. | | Kennesaw Recreation Center | Closed. Building hours are Monday to Saturday 7:00am-9:00pm. | | Dunbar Recreation Center | Closed. The free "Hoops at Dunbar" session runs Tuesday to Thursday 10am-2pm only. | | Acworth Community Center | Closed. Monday-Friday 7am-8pm, Saturday 8am-2pm. | | Johnson Ferry Baptist, Berean Christian | Closed. Both church gyms are open to the public on weekdays and shut at the weekend. | | Decatur Recreation Center | Open, but not for basketball. The Sunday sessions the city publishes in this gym are table tennis 11am-2pm and volleyball 2:30-5:45pm. Use Ebster or Oakhurst instead. |

Brookhaven's two community centers run free drop-in basketball but publish their times on a monthly calendar rather than as fixed weekly hours, so a Sunday session is possible and has to be checked month by month.

If the gyms are shut

Outdoor park courts are free, need no booking and are open on Sundays - and Sunday afternoon is when the good ones in this city actually have a run going. Every one we hold is in the court directory, with lights noted where the park publishes them.

Every day, time and price above is taken from the city, county or venue that publishes it, read in October 2026. Sugar Hill, Marietta, Peachtree City and Decatur all warn that open play is not guaranteed and that court time moves with programming - call the number on the venue's page before you travel.
