Where can I play open gym basketball in Gwinnett County?

Gwinnett County runs open gym at six county gyms — Bogan Park, George Pierce Park, Rhodes Jordan Park, Best Friend Park, Lucky Shoals Park and Lenora Park. Admission is $2.25 for adults 18-49, $1.25 under 18 and 50+, plus $2 if you live outside Gwinnett. The City of Sugar Hill's E Center charges $2 and publishes fixed hours; the county gyms do not.

The six county gyms

Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation operates six indoor gyms, and that number comes from the county's own indoor-rental roster rather than from a directory — if a gym is not on this list, the county does not run it.

| Gym | Address | City | Phone | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Bogan Park Community Recreation Center | 2723 N Bogan Rd NE | Buford | — | | George Pierce Park Community Recreation Center | 55 Buford Hwy | Suwanee | — | | Rhodes Jordan Park Gym | 100 East Crogan Street | Lawrenceville | 678.277.0890 | | Best Friend Park Gym | 6224 Jimmy Carter Blvd | Norcross | 678.277.0222 | | Lucky Shoals Park Gym | 4651 Britt Rd | Norcross | 678.277.0860 | | Lenora Park Gym | 4515 Lenora Church Rd | Snellville | 678.277.0985 |

What it costs

Admission to open gym is $2.25 for adults 18-49 and $1.25 for under-18s and anyone 50 or over, with a $2 surcharge if you do not live in Gwinnett. You can check out a basketball at the desk, so you do not strictly need to bring your own.

At $2.25 that is the cheapest published adult drop-in rate of any county parks system in metro Atlanta. For how that compares across the rest of the metro, see how much open gym basketball costs in Atlanta.

The catch: the county does not publish a basketball schedule

This is the part every other listing leaves out. Gwinnett runs open gym "during regular operating hours", and the park gyms are generally open Monday to Thursday 9:00am-9:00pm and Friday to Saturday 9:00am-6:00pm — but those are building hours, not basketball hours. The court goes to leagues, camps and rentals for large parts of the week, and several of the county's own park pages say outright that open gym hours "may be limited" or "may vary".

So the honest instruction is: call the gym before you drive over. The numbers above are the direct lines. It is the difference between a run and a locked door.

The one place in the county that does publish hours

If you want hours you can plan around, the City of Sugar Hill's E Center, 5009 West Broad Street, Sugar Hill, is the exception. The city publishes open play Monday to Saturday 7:00am-9:00pm and Sunday noon-6:00pm at $2 per person — the widest published open-play window we have found anywhere in the metro, and tied for the cheapest adult admission. The city still notes that hours move with programming, so (770) 831-7413 is worth a call, but this is a published schedule rather than an invitation to phone around.

If you would rather have the court to yourself

Gwinnett rents its gyms by the hour: $40 for Gwinnett residents, $60 for non-residents and $30 for non-profits, rising to $60 / $90 / $45 for a fundraiser or tournament. Every rental carries a $100 security deposit and proof of $1,000,000 general liability insurance. Also in Gwinnett

Gwinnett's school gyms are rentable through the district rather than drop-in, and the county's parks also hold outdoor courts that are free and need no call at all. Browse everything we hold in the area from the court directory.

Prices, hours and phone numbers above are as published by Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation and the City of Sugar Hill, read 14-15 October 2026. Park systems change rates at the start of a season — if you find one of these out of date, the venue's own page is the authority.
