The cheapest indoor basketball in Georgia, as far as we can tell
Hall County Parks & Leisure sells an Open Gym Membership for basketball and pickleball players specifically — $12 a month plus a one-time $5 membership card fee — and one membership covers all three county community centers. If you are not playing often enough to justify a month, there is a three-visit pass for $10.
Across everything we have sourced in Georgia, $12 a month for unlimited access to three gyms is the lowest cost-per-run we have found. Decatur's equivalent is $25 a month; most metro counties sell you a single visit at a time.
The three Hall County centers
| Center | Address | City | | --- | --- | --- | | East Hall Community Center | 3911 P Davison Road | Gainesville | | North Hall Community Center | 4175 Nopone Road | Gainesville | | Mulberry Creek Community Center | 4491 JM Turk Road | Flowery Branch |
All three run on the same building hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am-8:00pm, Saturday 8:00am-5:00pm, Sunday 1:00pm-6:00pm. The county does not publish fixed basketball hours, so open gym happens inside those windows and the gym can be booked for a league instead. Call ahead.
Two church gyms that genuinely let you in
Church gyms are the most under-reported basketball supply in Georgia, and fewer than ten of the ninety-odd we have listed statewide publish whether an outsider can actually play. Two of them are in Gainesville.
First Baptist Church Gainesville — Family Life Center, 751 Green St NW. Mid-day basketball runs Monday and Wednesday, 11:00am-3:00pm, with Saturday basketball available by reservation up to two hours. Non-members pay $4 a visit; memberships are $35 a month for the community or $20 a month for church members. The building is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 6:00am-9:00pm, Friday 6:00am-8:00pm and Saturday 8:00am-2:00pm.
Lakewood Baptist Church, 2235 Thompson Bridge Rd. Open gym runs Sunday 2:00pm-7:00pm, and Monday is basketball only, 4:00pm-9:00pm. Tuesdays are volleyball, Thursdays pickleball, and Fridays and Saturdays are rentals only.
Live as of 15 October 2026: Lakewood has basketball open gym suspended from 7 September through 26 October, resuming 2 November. If you are reading this before November, Monday nights are not running.
What is not here
Hall County publishes no basketball timetable, and neither do most of the schools in the area, whose gyms rent through the district rather than opening for drop-in. If you want a court with no fee and no phone call, the outdoor courts in the county parks are the straightforward answer.
For the metro Atlanta picture an hour south, start with where to play open gym basketball in Atlanta or the full price list in every published open-gym basketball time and price in metro Atlanta. Everything we hold locally is in the court directory.
Rates and hours as published by Hall County Parks & Leisure, First Baptist Church Gainesville and Lakewood Baptist Church, read October 2026. Church recreation schedules change with the ministry calendar more often than city ones do — the suspension note above is exactly why it is worth checking the venue's own page.
